For December 7th:

"I can do all things in him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13

"I know who takes care of me. I have a great life." These were words that often came from my mouth when others complained about their lives. They were words I truly meant. My husband was to whom I was referring in those moments. He was a good man, a good husband and a good father. He believed in God, taught Sunday School, taught our children the importance of church, family, honesty, integrity and hard work.
With all he did and gave to our boys and me, we really did live a great life. Then one day in a blink, he was gone. I truly was at a loss, shocked by his unexpected death. What would I do? The boys were grown, each getting ready to marry. How would I live? But with each day that passed I WAS still living. Family members and friends were supportive. But I felt alone….
One day while reading a devotional book, I came upon a Bible verse that I had always loved. It was even one I had quoted to others. Now it was time for me to take it to heart. "I can do all things in him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13. I could keep living my life and find joy because God would give me the strength.
Yes, my husband had been strong, but his strength had come from God. Now I needed to remember God was in charge and God would give me strength to live each day and share he love with others.
God gave me strength yesterday and he will give me strength tomorrow.
