For October 20th:

“Serve the Lord with gladness!...” Psalm 100:2

“I walk out to the street through the rain, grace falling all around, and I drive home thinking of my brother-in-law, John. John, who had buried his two sons, who let me into his healing through crazy grief when he said, ‘The way through the pain is to reach out to others in theirs.’ I have known ache and becoming the blessing is what deeply blesses us and this is the way He binds up our wounds.
Eucharisteo (giving thanks) wakens me wide-eyed and nodding to the words of Tagore* that I, a mother of six, now own, bought with the practice of Eucharisteo, “I slept and dreamt life was joy, I woke and saw life was service, I acted and, behold, service was joy.”
