For October 19th:

"My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—from violent people you save me."
2 Samuel 22:3 (NIV)

Salvation is one of those churchy words that we hear all of the time. A couple months ago, I learned a little bit more about this word and God showed me something more.
Salvation comes from the same root as the word salve. No matter how you pronounce this word, salve, it has a very meaningful purpose and connects to the larger word, salvation. Salve is an ointment or cream used over open wounds. Anything you put on an open wound is going to be messy, but imagine that God's salvation works like an ointment over our open wounds. His salvation provides a deep and permanent healing for us and others. What an incredible gift! Permanent healing. Let us be thankful and rejoice in God's salvation in our personal lives.
Take a moment to thank God for the healing he has done in your life. Then, pray that God's salvation, or permanent healing, would reach those around you, those in our community, those in our nation, and those across the globe.
