For September 30th:

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.” I Corinthians 12:4-6
God does give each person gifts for service.  He does give each one different gifts.  It is amazing the way God creates His people and His world to make it work together to accomplish so much.  Even if our gift does not seem significant, it is very crucial to the whole creation.  We all need to use our gifts for His service.
Many of our church people are involved in a ministry called Volunteers in Medicine.  This is a clinic where people who live in Hamilton County, make below the poverty level, and who do not have insurance can get free medical care.  To have this Clinic function smoothly, it takes all types of gifts and service.
There are the obvious gifts of medical skills including doctors, nurses, lab techs, x-ray techs, and physical therapists.  There are people who volunteer an endless amount of hours who have computer skills.  These computer skills are used for the website, for scheduling, scanning patient information, and recording the information from the patients’ Clinic visits.  All of the Clinic record keeping is electronic.  Other volunteers have the natural gift of hospitality.  They serve as receptionists, make calls confirming appointments and prescriptions, and greet folks as they come in the door.  There are people who use their gift to share the Good News with a devotional each Clinic day.  Another group uses their fundraising gifts to raise money to keep the Clinic open.  You get the idea.
The Clinic is just one of many organizations who depend on Godly people using their gifts in service.  We must be open to serve where called.  God gave us gifts to use, not to put them aside.  The joy and rewards of using our gifts in service to others is immeasurable.  It makes our hearts and faith grow incredibly.
