It's been pretty exciting
around here over the last couple of months. Three of the four of us have had
major milestone birthdays! Chandler, our youngest, turned 18; Chelsea turned
21, and Curtis turned the big 50! With all these birthdays, it kind of made me think
about how some people absolutely LOVE birthdays and others despise them. I've
never understood why people don't like them.....I mean besides having our
bodies creak and ache more, we don't function quite like we used to in our
twenties, our memories are shot, and we are not as cool as we think we
are, what's not to like???
But if you think about the
what our birthdays really signify, it's the celebration of life! Why we were
created! Period. That's it. We have lived another year in the beauty of
God's creation. We are here to glorify Him. Do you have a roof over your head? Food
to eat? Job? Family? Can you see? Smell? Pray? Walk? Feel? Think? Can you
talk to a friend on the phone or internet? Do you have a book to read? Can you
go to church? Can you run? Talk? Play tennis? Golf? Watch TV? Work a
crossword? Eat lunch with a friend? Bake something for a neighbor? Then you
have something to celebrate! So instead of hiding from these days of
celebrating our births, embrace them with all you have and share them with
everyone!
