“Don’t be troubled. Trust in God. Trust also in
me.” John 14:1 (Common English Bible)
I have been reading a
book by Karen Moore titled Thankful, Practicing the Grace of Gratitude. The thing that attracted me to this
book was a question on the back of the book. It asked, “What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things
you thanked God for today?” Now
that can make you think and maybe focus on what we do thank God for each
day. Most of us are rich in
blessings, even if we do not have many possessions or money. Joy and happiness result when we take
notice and give God the praise, glory, and thanks. Large and small, God sends blessings our way, we just need
to recognize them.
We should be thankful
for positive spirit in people.
David, my husband, is such a positive optimist. He sees the good, the glass half full,
and the positive in challenging situations. The latest example of this has been
his saga with his eye (retina).
Each step of the way there has been complications, but he is always
grateful for the results and keeps looking forward. As he keeps a positive spirit and a joyful attitude, he
defeats the pity party and dwelling on himself.
This can be true for
all of us. Our positive outlook on life for what may happen today, tomorrow, or
in the future, should show others that we know that we are in God’s hands and
we trust him. We need to anticipate life’s blessings. God wants us to have His
gift of joy in our life no matter what the circumstances.
As you go to bed
tonight, think about what you thanked God for today and what would you have
tomorrow.
