For September 9th:

“The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40

I have been reading Wess Stafford's book “JUST A MINUTE”. They are stories on how such a small amount of time, a word or an action can change a child's life or be a memory that they will cherish forever.
We have all heard stories of how a note, phone call, or visit made a difference in someone's life. I can assure you it does and I want to share with you how a gift of a moment from a mother and daughter is still one of my most treasured memory gifts.
April 1999 I had written in my journal “my daughter is coming home for Easter and I am so busy I feel I can hardly enjoy her visit.” Well before that month was over this Type A person, too busy for even a moment with her daughter, found herself totally stopped. I now had a two year old that because of her seizures and behavior problems, I could not even leave the house. Her Mom's funeral was over and everyone’s lives continue and so did mine. However, mine was so totally different. Mandy's seizures had been so bad we could not leave her at all. Even housework was difficult. You can't even read with a two year old climbing on you.
Mandy did love to go outside and we did spend a large part of our day in our driveway where she would play. One day Alice and Rebecca McPherson were on their way to the pool and as she was passing our house, she saw us out and STOPPED. Alice and I talked and talked and talked. It was like the gift of life and Rebecca went off to play with Mandy. After that when they could they would plan extra time on those pool trip days to stop and be with us.
Yes, we can spend hours and money shopping for what we hope is a perfect gift, but those things that are the most priceless is that gift of yourself---that give in a moment.
Prayer: Father God, in Your all powerful and knowing love for us you sent us friends to be Your arms and words when we needed You “WITH SKIN ON”. Thank You My Lord. Amen.

Ginnie McPherson
