For September 27th:

“…pray continually,…” 1 Thessalonians 5:17

More words of wisdom from Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, 1600s…
(See the March 9th entry for background information about this obscure French monk).

“…Above all else, the main ingredient of a genuine spiritual life is practicing God’s presence—living for God’s closeness, day by day; getting used to spending time with Him; and praying to Him humbly (remember who you are!) and with love (remember who He is!). Keep praying always, every moment—no rules, no systems. Just keep praying, especially when you’re tempted or down, when you’re feeling spiritually dry, or when you don’t know what to say. Even if you’re disgusted with something, if you’re unfaithful to Him, or if you’ve sinned, pray!...”
