For September 14th:

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Gratitude Project #13-Scripture Décor

Take some time to stop and pray with God’s Word. Read through your Bible and notes you may have written down either in the margins or in a journal. Choose a few verses that God places in your heart as important messages for you, your family and visitors that might visit your home.
Now use God’s word throughout your home. Type them out on your computer, enlarge them with a copier at the office supply store and then frame them to display in places you and others will see them frequently. If you are really brave, you could paint His word on your walls or hire a professional to do it for you (or ask a friend who has that skill to help you do it in exchange for sharing a gift God has given to you!). Often Home Décor and Arts & Crafts stores have preprinted verses that you can peel and stick on your surfaces.
I chose specific verses that God put on my heart to paint on the walls of my children’s rooms, strategically placing them so that when they are lying in bed they can see them, read them, and be inspired, comforted, or just reminded of God’s love for them. They both really find value in the vision of His words in their spaces. I also chose the verse “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” Matthew 6:33 to put above the door we most often exit from home to remind us what our true agenda for the day should be.
By including God’s word in the décor of your home you are surrounding yourself & your family with hope, encouragement, and reminders of Him daily, every time you pass by them. Be creative with the Word of The Creator!
