“Let everything that has breath praise the
Lord, Praise the Lord!”
Psalm 150:6
“Praise Him!
This
verse implies that every living creature on the earth has an opportunity to
praise God. How can an elephant
praise God? By simply being an
elephant, one of God’s creations.
We, too, praise God just by being alive, serving as a testimony to the
wild creativity of our Creator.
Praising
is a choice we make too. When life
careens crazily and things don’t go as we planned, we can decide in the moment
to grumble or praise. We can do
this because praising God is not based on our circumstances, but on His
attributes. He will never change,
though our situations and trials shift constantly.
Today
is a particularly wonderful day to praise God. We have air to breathe, a mind to think, and if we are
mobile, legs to walk. God has
fully forgiven us and invited us into relationship with Him. We have constant access to His presence
every moment.
We
also have creation all around us, hollering His praise. The flowers, trees, grass, mountains,
sky, oceans, stars—all proclaim Him and shout His significance and ability. All we need to do is open our eyes and train
our hearts on gratitude.
Prayer: Jesus, I’m alive! And since I’m alive I choose to praise You
right now. Not for stuff. Not to complain. But to rejoice in how very amazing You
are. Amen.”
