For August 13th:

The following entry was written by a youth who recently traveled to New York City for mission work with our CUMC Youth group. Thank you Erin for sharing what God placed in your heart from your experiences while being the hands and feet of Christ.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21 NIV)

I saw God throughout our week but a specific time that really stuck out to me was when we were working at Bread and Life. The recipients started singing songs, hymns and made up songs of praise between meals. It was a very powerful and joyous moment and made even more so hearing it come from those who have so little. It just shows us that true joy is not found in worldly things.
