For July 11th:

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
Many years ago, actually in 1972, while living in Oklahoma, I was blessed to attend a Spiritual Life Retreat, and received a copy of the following poem written by one of the ladies. I do not recall ever having read it elsewhere, but I have kept it as a reminder that everything we do as Christians can be sanctified by the spirit of gratitude serving wherever He leads, we can glorify our Lord by spreading the “frosting of Gratitude” each day of our lives…
Quick Prayer Mix
I stirred me up a prayer today
And had the best results!
It’s proved a foolproof recipe
For children and adults.
First, take what faith you have on hand,
A little or a lot.
Now if you find you’re out of it,
Your prayer is sure to flop.
You’ll need at least a cup of love
To make the texture right.
Without it prayers are heavy,
And they should be very light.
Now leaven with expectancy.
(You can’t get in too much).
The more you use the better;
It gives the perfect touch.
Season with humility;
Use with a heavy hand.
I once used ego by mistake—
My prayer just tasted like sand!
When everything is all stirred in
And ready for the pan,
Just drop in the petitions
As quickly as you can.
The secret of this recipe,
The thing that makes it good,
Is that as it is rising
You frost with gratitude.
A lot of people that I know use these little tricks.
We’re going to have this patented
And call it “Quick Prayer Mix”.
