For April 25th:
“Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in
Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16 (NIV)
It was the day before Thanksgiving and
I was at the mall with my Granddaughter. More and more I feel the secular world
closing in and closing out our special day to give thanks to our God for His
constant love and untold blessings. But I too am pulled into the lure of
shopping and bargains.
As we were going through a rack of tops
I look up and there is a precious friend whom I have had on my heart for weeks
and kept saying I've got to send her a note. Her daughter is battling cancer
and the journey has been long, hard and painful. I get to hug my friend, hold
her in my arms and find out how her daughter is doing. This Thanksgiving my
friend has her daughter and grandson home with her and they are grateful for
each day and each step forward and count each step a blessing.
My heart is filled with thanksgiving for my friend
and for God reminding me to be thankful in everything, every circumstance, even
placing my friend and myself at the same place in the mall so we could share
even a little moment with each other. It was a gift.
Dear Father God, I truly give thanks and so
grateful in all things –big and little. Amen
Ginnie McPherson
