“Giving thanks always for all things unto God
and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” Ephesians 5:20
I
am thankful for the people that God brings into my life each day. People that I do not know will utter a
kind word or smile at me and in doing so, make a difference in how I view my
day. Throughout my work day as a
pharmaceutical rep, I drive from town to town calling on offices and talking
with healthcare providers about my products and certain diseases. My territory is somewhat spread out
with an expectation of a number of customers that I should get to each day. I can be running from one office to
another focused on the task at hand, but not noticing the person in the
elevator next to me or walking beside me in a crowd. Then as I rush by, a simple gesture like holding a door for
me, or a kind word of “Have a good day,” snaps me out of my own little world
and makes me look up, return the kind gesture or word with a “thank you” or a
smile and opens my eyes to that day’s blessings. I pray that I remember to in turn, hold the door, or smile
and say hello. In doing so, I may
help someone else to see the blessings of the day.
